  • Ashburn Metro Station 43655 Ashburn Metro Drive Ashburn, VA, 20147 United States (map)

Event Description:

DSANV partners with The Arc of Northern Virginia’s Tech for Independent Living Team, for hands-on Travel Trip Experiences. Each month, for the next 2 months, DSANV “travels” with the Arc to a different county to offer FREE guided trips for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The purpose of these trips is to build confidence and learn to navigate public transportation across the DMV area (DC, Maryland, and Virginia). Join for the trip in your county or join for all of them!

Participants will receive in-person guidance and orientation to local transit systems—Metro, bus, and more. These outings are designed to build confidence, increase safety awareness, and improve real-life problem-solving skills when navigating public trans

These travel outings are ideal for those learning to travel more independently and can participate safely in a group setting. While full independence is not required, participants should be able to stay with the group and follow along without one-on-one assistance. Additional support is mandatory for those who require it due to safety concerns, behavioral needs, or medical conditions.

Loudoun Trip Details: Participants will ride the Loudoun County Transit bus from Ashburn Metro Station to One Loudoun to explore the shops, grab a snack, or enjoy the area. All participants will receive a SmarTrip card to use on local public transportation.

Cost: FREE, but pre-registration is required.

Registration: Register here.

All abilities welcome! Must be 14+ to participate and be accompanied by an 18+ parent/sibling/guardian OR must be 18+ to participate independently, or with an 18+ parent/sibling/guardian.
