About DSANV

Who We Are

At the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia, we are a community built on connection, advocacy, and possibility. Our mission is to empower individuals with Down syndrome and their families through education, resources, and meaningful opportunities that support growth at every stage of life. We believe every person has unique strengths and gifts, and we are committed to helping our community members thrive, belong, and be celebrated for who they are.

Our work is grounded in partnership - with families, educators, professionals, and community organizations - to create inclusive spaces where individuals with Down syndrome can learn, develop skills, build relationships, and pursue their goals. From early childhood through adulthood, we strive to provide programs and support that foster confidence, independence, and joy.

Above all, we are a community that shows up for one another. Whether you are a new parent seeking guidance, a self-advocate pursuing your dreams, or a supporter who believes in inclusion, you belong here. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive future for all.

  • DSANV is dedicated to empowering individuals with Down syndrome and their families by providing essential resources, support, programs, and events that foster inclusion, enhance well-being, and promote meaningful participation in the community.

  • "Empowering Potential, Embracing Community."

Our vision is to create a community where individuals with Down syndrome are fully embraced and valued and have equal opportunities to thrive, connect, and contribute to society.

  • Inclusion: We believe in fostering a community where individuals with Down syndrome are embraced, valued, and actively participate in all aspects of life.

Empowerment: We are committed to providing the resources, support, and opportunities that enable individuals with Down syndrome to reach their full potential and lead meaningful lives.

Collaboration: We work together with families, professionals, and the community to build a supportive network that strengthens the well-being of individuals with Down syndrome.

Respect: We honor the dignity and unique abilities of every individual, promoting understanding, acceptance, and equal opportunities for all.

The DSANV 2025-2030 strategic plan guides how we expand programs, reach families, and build a more inclusive Northern Virginia for individuals with Down syndrome.
