Event Description:
Ease Educates provides inclusive, fact-based online classes and support tailored for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Focused on empowering individuals to navigate personal relationships safely and confidently, their programs cover essential topics like consent, personal boundaries, healthy relationships, and human sexuality. Through clear visuals and interactive discussions, Ease helps participants build self-advocacy skills, while also offering dedicated parent workshops and professional training for families and support networks across Northern Virginia.
Ease is offering a four-part series for the DSANV community. Mini sessions will be held virtually on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30.
About the instructors:
Arlene Lechner, M.Ed & Melissa Hochberg, M.Ed are CoFounders of Ease. They have Master’s in Special Education and both have 25+ years’ experience working with people of all abilities in academic, social and recreational settings. Arlene and Melissa developed the Ease Curriculum on Consent, Boundaries, Relationships, Online Safety & Sex Ed for people with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities. Ease offers online classes and only teaches facts! Ease offers parent workshops, staff training and individualized education. They have worked with people of all ages, from 18 months to 83 years old. They are Mental Health First Aid certified and Human Sexuality Educators.
Arlene & Melissa are excited to offer and teach the Ease mini session through DSANV. The mini session topics include consent, boundaries, relationships & online safety. Using the Ease Curriculum, we will teach the definitions of each topic, break the information down into small understandable parts that are accessible to all learners and help make connections to real life through pictures, videos and scenarios. The classes are interactive with various ways to participate. After each class, handouts are sent to parents, caregivers and students to help review the topics and continue the conversations.
Cost: $200 for the full four-part series.
