Meet Brien: Sharing Joy Through Art, Music, and Community

Brien is a 24-year-old artist and musician with a passion for creativity and connection. Whether he’s making music, attending live shows, or dreaming about one day becoming a DJ, Brien brings energy and enthusiasm to everything he does. Music is more than a hobby - it’s a big part of who he is and how he connects with the world around him.

When he’s spending quiet time at home, Brien channels his creativity into art. Using Sharpies, he creates colorful, detailed pieces in his home studio - many of which are turned into prints and notecards that spread joy throughout the community. As a featured artist with the Made with Heart Markets, Brien takes great pride in sharing his work and seeing others enjoy what he creates.

Brien is also deeply connected to his community. A naturally social person, he thrives on interaction and loves participating in activities that bring people together. From sports and his scouting troop for adults with special needs to DSANV programs like Career Development at St. Lucy Food Project, FCPS, and social meet-ups in Prince William County, Brien stays actively engaged and involved. These experiences not only provide opportunities for growth, but also meaningful friendships and a strong sense of belonging.

The Jones family has been part of the Down syndrome community since Brien was a baby, and their connection has continued to grow over the years. Following his high school graduation, Brien became even more involved with DSANV, embracing new opportunities and continuing to build his independence and community connections.

Brien’s story is a beautiful reminder of the power of creativity, connection, and community - and the incredible impact of providing opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome to share their talents and passions with the world.
