Laura Danner became part of the Down syndrome community following the birth of her sister Maria who has Down syndrome and autism. Her family connected with DSANV in 2003 when they moved to the region from their hometown in Wisconsin. Following a recent return to Northern Virginia, Laura is thrilled to give back to DSANV and reconnect with the community in her role as Program Coordinator.

Laura earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and PhD in Biochemistry from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Her passion for community health and background in research and data analysis provide a strong foundation for her work in the organization. As she transitions into the next phase of her career, she’s excited to work with families and community partners to bring enhanced programming across the region.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with loved ones, relaxing in nature, and pursuing a variety of artistic interests.
