The Medical Fund of the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia is designed to assist members who have a need to supplement or purchase medical goods needed by individuals with Down syndrome. The Medical Fund assists with durable medical related goods.
Medical funding is available to individuals with Down Syndrome in Northern Virginia (including members of the Board of Directors) based on financial need. Northern Virginia is defined by DSANV as Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Stafford and Fauquier Counties and the Cities of Fairfax, Alexandria, Falls Church, Manassas City and Manassas Park. All applicants must provide a medical diagnosis of Down syndrome in order to be considered. Evidence of medical necessity for the durable goods is also required.
Interested persons must complete a DSANV Medical Funding Application Form, provide the necessary information for the financial needs assessment and return all information to DSANV, Attention: Medical Funding. All paperwork must be received via e-mail or regular mail.
Financial assistance may cover only a portion of the cost of the medical goods. Maximum funding is $1,000 per individual with Down syndrome per calendar year. All funds are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis based on the annual budget allotted by the Board of Directors.
