Our Fall 2019 Programs Intern, Elizabeth Eisenberg, is a senior at George Mason University. She is preparing for a career in the health services industry. She is grateful for having learned self-advocate skills and is very proud of the level of independence she’s achieved by age 22. She and her family are long-time members of DSANV. While she has enjoyed participating in many DSANV programs over the years, the opportunity for competitive employment that DSANV has been able to offer her, through a Global Down Syndrome Foundation grant, is her favorite experience as it will help prepare her for future employment.
Elizabeth enjoys being a role model and sharing what she’s learned. She wants people to know that individuals with disabilities are smart, compassionate, and talented; she says, “give them a chance to show you what they know and what they can do”!
